If I get a DUI in Arizona, how many points will be added to my driver’s license? Will I have to get SR22 insurance?
The points system for the state of Arizona ranges from 2-8 points per offense depending on the severity of the offense. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, a DUI offense will add 8 points (the maximum) to your driver’s license, and you will probably have your license suspended on top of that.
You will most likely have to file for SR22 insurance in order to have your driver’s license reinstated. You may also be required to pay certain fees and fines such as a driver’s license reinstatement fee before you can get your license back. Filing for SR22 insurance will provide proof to the Arizona DoT that you have the required minimum amount of liability insurance coverage.
