I was two days late paying my bill for my Geico auto insurance. I went on line and paid it, but it says it has been my policy has been cancelled. Will my policy be reinstated because I made a payment or will it be cancelled permanently?
You definitely need to call your insurance company immediately! Chances are they won’t just reinstate your policy after you pay it online. You need to actually speak to a representative and explain to them that you did make a payment and why it was late. Hopefully, they will reinstate your policy with no problems, but every insurance company handles this type of situation differently. Some insurance companies are more lenient about reinstating policies, especially if you were only a couple days late and some will permanently cancel your policy the first day you miss a payment.
If Geico will not reinstate your policy, you will have to get insurance through a different insurance company. Most companies will charge you higher rates for a driver that has had an insurance policy cancelled for any reason. That is why it is so important to pay your premium on time every time. Most companies will allow you to do an automatic bank draft so your policy is never late, so that might be something you want to look in to.
